About the role
We’re seeking a Senior Geologist to join our Digital Solutions team in West Leederville, Perth. This hybrid role offers flexible working arrangements and occasional short customer site visits (no regular FIFO ).
You’ll play a key role in introducing and managing OREPro™ 3D, Orica’s cutting-edge blast movement technology, across the AusPac region. As part of a small, high-performing team, you’ll help expand Orica’s digital capabilities and engage with leading mining companies at senior technical and commercial levels.
Following initial training, the role will be semi-autonomous with flexibility built in. Reporting to the OREPro™ Lead – AusPac Commercial, you’ll drive systems, processes, and procedures for successful commercialisation of OREPro™ 3D and future grade control technologies.
What you will be doing
- Acting as a subject matter expert for all OREPro™ 3D customer onboarding and support in the AusPac region;
- Managing customer engagement from initial technology demonstrations through to implementation, training and ongoing technical support;
- Providing input into the product development roadmap, support models, and emerging technologies;
- Supporting regional marketing initiatives, including representation at industry conferences and technology roadshows; and
- Identification and implementation of systems, processes, and procedures for scalable release of new digital solutions to Orica’s markets across the world.
What you will bring
- Degree qualifications in Geology is essential, post-graduate qualifications would be highly regarded;
- 3> years’ experience in a Senior Geologist role is essential;
- Experience in mining geology and grade control (resource modelling, resource estimation, and reconciliation) in multiple open pit hard rock mining environments is essential;
- Prior experience using Orica’s OREPro™ 3D technology would be a distinct advantage;
- Solid understanding of open pit blasting and its implications for production geology grade control metrics;
- Strong technology competency and attention to detail with the ability to manage data, models, and up-to-date software applications;
- Experience with General Mine Planning software (Datamine, Vulcan, Leapfrog, Surpac, etc.);
- Confidence when speaking to groups, professional personal presentation and excellent technical writing ability;
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to remote locations, with anticipated travel being 10-30% depending on the opportunity pipeline.
