The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team based in Mackay. In this permanent full time role you will provide support and guidance to our 3 workshops based in Paget.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the National HSEQ Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
* Attend and contribute where practicable to daily prestart meetings.
* Be present in operational work areas and in the field promoting and leading HSE interactions to encourage continuous, open and free HSE discussions.
* Contribute to and assist key stakeholders in the development and implementation of HSE related audit documentation and corrective actions for internal and external audits.
* Develop, participate in and present where required HSE Toolbox Topics and education sessions.
* Drive short projects relevant to HSE improvements and corrective actions.
* Develop and maintain HEPI fire evacuation procedure and conduct annual fire and evacuation drills.
* Identify training needs following safety incidents and make recommendations.
* In conjunction with the National HSEQ Manager and other major stakeholders, review, maintain and develop where required HSE related documentation.
* Maintain local Risk, Legal Compliance, Environmental and other HSE related registers, where required.
* Maintain non‐conformance / CPAR register and report data.
* Maintain, update and implement HSE related policies and procedures to reflect HEPI Group Policies, current legislation and industry best practice.
* Manage and coordinate all investigations following HSE events.
* Provide administrative and direct support for Workers' Compensation, Injury Management and Return to Work programs.
* Provide mentoring and guidance to Supervisors on the VOC and VAQ processes whilst assisting to drive and support the training process at HEPI in conjunction with the Training Manager.
* Provide HSE related risk tools training as required e.g. Take 5, JSA, OHAs, Hazards ID.
* Support all Health and Wellness initiatives and programs.
* Support and maintain local ISO compliance.
* Support divisional General Managers and Branch Managers as required.
* Undertake Risk Assessments and help facilitate Risk Register Review workshops.
About You
To be considered for this position you will ideally have:
* Certificate IV Occupational Health & Safety
* Current Workplace First Aid certificate
* Experience in conducting incident investigations, assisting in the development and implementation of corrective actions.
* Experience with developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
* Demonstrated experience working with and consulting with either Tier 1 or Tier 2 corporations in heavy industry.
* Knowledge, understanding and interpretation of current WHS legislation and industry best practice.
* Minimum four years' experience in a similar role.
