About The Team
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) provides specialist care for people suffering from mental illnesses, and addiction disorders. The Program has a primary responsibility for residents of inner South Eastern metropolitan Melbourne, but cares for all patients seeking its services.
In response to various influences such as the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health Care System, broader public health sector transformation, changes to the Mental Health Act, workforce pressures and exponential growth in the demand for mental health services and building on the successes of existing Antimicrobial, Anticoagulant and Analgesic Stewardship models at Alfred Health, an innovative and collaborative Psychotropic Stewardship Program has been designed and established within the AMAH programme to provide oversight of psychotropic prescribing and ensure appropriate, safe and judicious use of psychotropic medicines across the organisation including developing a formal response to new legislation.
