This role will give you both formal studies (TAFE) and practical experience in the Boilermaker trade undertaking Cert III Engineering – Fabrication (Heavy).
Working within the ship repair & maintenance business of Thales Australia, you will be trained in the following specialist areas:
Manufacturing of all types of steel work from drawings or samples, in various types of metals
The safe use of basic hand tools, battery tools, electric and pneumatic tools
Performing basic welding ( MIG, TIG & Stick)
Fabrication and welding processes
About You
Proactive attitude and keen to become familiar with workshop equipment, machinery and its safe operation
Ability to read/understand technical drawings and operate with an attention to detail
Willing and able to work within confined spaces, supported by all relevant training
Well-developed communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
Other related duties as assigned, which may include off-site work or projects outside the Sydney metropolitan area
A current NSW White Card (General Construction) is preferred

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
