We’re looking for a reporter to generate high-value digital, video and audio content and work collaboratively with teams across the newsroom and the ABC. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Tasmanian stories and audiences on digital and social platforms, and demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills. The Job You will: Gather, write, and present stories for local and national programs under general direction. Produce and present news bulletins, Q&As, interviews, and packages across all platforms, including breaking news. Break stories and contribute original ideas and angles using professional contacts and networks. Write scripts and stories demonstrating advanced journalistic skills. Stay updated on production software, reporting tools, and techniques. Collaborate effectively with producers, editors, and newsroom colleagues. Create stories relevant to diverse Australian audiences, reflecting cultural, geographic, and socio-economic diversity. Position Description: 50009891 REPORTER - Updated B4.pdf About You You're an experienced multi-platform news reporter, with a track record of generating original stories and covering breaking news. You'll also have: Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent skills and experience. Experience as a cross-platform news reporter covering breaking news and producing original stories daily. Proficient with relevant software, production systems, and reporting tools. Strong knowledge of Tasmanian issues and events. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Good understanding of social media for newsgathering and storytelling. Solid grasp of content strategy and audience needs across platforms.
