Cadia Systems manufactures & designs innovative, high-quality processing equipment for the mining industry at our Canning Vale Workshop.
We are currently seeking another experienced Welding Fabricator or Fitter/Welder primarily for sheet metal production in the range of 1-5mm, who has attention to detail for assembly of products manufactured primarily from stainless steels, with primary welding in the range of 1.6mm to 5mm via GTAW TIG. Some carbon steel MIG is also carried out.
The role is with a small company with an interactive approach to work.
Variety is the key of our workspace, with fabrication involving not just welding, but assembly, fitting, refractory works, site works on occasion, packaging and use of pressing and rolling equipment.
Quality control and attention to detail is critical for fit and finish of the end products and is closely akin to stainless balustrade and food grade or milk processing production welding qualities.
This is a contract position for 6 months initially (with 3 month probation period) with potential for fulltime role depending on your quality and production and availability of project works.
Pay level will be dependent on proven skill levels as a fabricator.
Qualifications & experience
* Welding Certificate 1st or 2nd Class
* Australian recognised certificate.
* Drivers license and ability to attend sites for small (3-5 day durations infrequently via NPC checks.
* Milk processing production industry or food quality product manufacture highly beneficial
* Forklift license.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially thin plate (1-8mm) TIG welding
* Primarily Skilled in TIG welding with MIG as an additional capability
* Ability to use equipment such as band saws, drill presses, linishers and tapping equipment or willingness to learn. Press brake experience is also beneficial though not essential.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and liaise with the engineers and draftsman.
* Team orientated with strong commitment to safety and quality
In the role you will:
* Fabricate products such as specialised tanks (electrowinning cells), pipework, filters and structural components
* Utilise equipment such as band saws, drill presses, linishers and tapping equipment
* Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
* Cut, burnish, polish, grind all metals for precision fabrication
* Welds metal parts together using both gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes.
* Press brake operation optional
* Assembly and casting of refractory materials
* Ensure projects meet the delivery schedules and are presented at a high level of quality and accuracy.
* Maintain a clean, orderly, and highly presentable workplace.
* Occasional site installation (mining environment) required for short durations (<1 week typically)
To be considered, you will possess the following:
* Stainless Steel and Steel TIG experience is a must
* Police clearance and drivers license
* MIG experience useful
* Able to read and understand Fabrication Drawings
* Show strong initiative and attention to detail to tasks at hand.
* Dependable and work in an efficient timely manner within a close team environment.
* Be able to work in a small team environment
* Positive approach to multiple tasks and ability to handle pressure at various times.
What you can expect from us:
* Weekly pay flat rate plus super, though if you prefer penalty rates, base rate can be adjusted to suit
* Typically 8-10 hour days, 40-50 hours a week depending on workload, 4-5 days per week
* Small work group environment
