Metro Steel Fabrication WA is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support the planning and delivery of steel fabrication and construction projects.
The role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and assisting with tender submissions to ensure projects are financially viable and competitively priced.
This position plays a key role in coordinating cost information, reviewing technical documentation, and working closely with internal teams and external suppliers throughout the pre-construction phase.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Analyse construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation to gain a clear understanding of project scope and requirements.
Prepare and review detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, subcontract works, and associated project expenses.
Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing information and clarify project details.
Research suppliers and subcontractor quotes, evaluate pricing trends, and recommend the most cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documentation and bid packages within specified deadlines.
Monitor and update cost estimates as project information changes, providing adjustments and recommendations where required.
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and ensure all estimates comply with applicable standards, specifications, and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of all estimation data, quotation responses, and communication for future reference.
Skills and Experience
At least 2 years' demonstrated experience in construction estimating, preferably within steel fabrication or structural projects.
Strong ability to interpret construction materials, technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention to detail skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
Proficiency in estimating software and standard office applications.
Civil Engineer Position – Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and review civil engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
Analyse engineering plans, specifications, and project requirements.
Assist with the planning and coordination of construction activities and work programs.
Conduct engineering calculations related to materials, loads, and structural performance.
Ensure designs and construction activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes, and regulations.
Liaise with project managers, estimators, architects, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Provide technical advice and support during fabrication and construction stages.
Monitor project progress and address engineering-related issues as they arise.
Assist with inspections and quality control to ensure works meet design intent and specifications.
Maintain accurate project records, reports, and engineering documentation.
Civil Engineer – Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
At least 2 years' experience in a similar role as a Civil Engineer.
Proficiency in engineering software and project management tools.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong knowledge of Australian building codes and safety standards.
Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience working with steel, structural, or infrastructure projects is desirable.
Remuneration
Packages between $77,000 – $85,000 will be negotiated with the successful candidates.
