Employment Type VariousLocation GoulburnPosition Classification Senior Medical PractitionerRemuneration View VMO Rates Here View Staff Specialist Rates HereHours Per Week 40Requisition ID REQ657252Applications Close 30 May 2026Where You'll Be Working & What You'll Be Doing Goulburn Base Hospital is a Level 4 facility with a Clinical Services Building of 2021, including three operational theatres for elective and emergency surgery across General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Oral Surgery.The anaesthetic workforce comprises two anaesthetists in elective theatres, one in pre‐assessment clinic and one in Anaesthetist‐on‐Duty (AOD) roles. The position involves providing anaesthetic services, contributing to the on‐call/after‐hours roster, participating in Department of Anaesthesia meetings, and being involved in clinical governance.The incumbent will supervise and assist in the educational and professional development of undergraduate and postgraduate students, SRMOs and registrars, maintain productive relationships with internal and external providers, and deliver high standard professional service.Provide comprehensive GP Anaesthetic services for optimal patient outcomes.Support training across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.Selection CriteriaFellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent overseas qualification eligible for Expedited Specialist Pathway or the ANZCA Specialist Pathway.Registered or eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Demonstrated current clinical experience in anaesthesia at an appropriate level.Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards.Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide effective leadership.Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical research, simulation and quality improvement.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff, and effective communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination This is a Category 'A' position.
