Context Statement
The Director Executive Services is responsible for policy and providing strategic advice to Senior Management and supporting the
wider agency on all governance and corporate services matters.
Primary objective
The Director Executive Services drives the delivery of executive advice, corporate governance and executive support to internal
and external senior executives and stakeholders and oversees the secretariat, executive services, governance and communications
units delivery of high-quality, timely and client focused services to support good governance of the department.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support the Under Treasurer, Deputy Under Treasurers and senior executives through the delivery of high-level strategic
advice and operational support services, to inform decision making on current and emerging issues impacting and/or relevant
to the department and its core business.
1. Lead and direct the staff within the Executive Services, Secretariat, Communications and Governance units to drive the delivery
of agreed outcomes.
1. Ensure the maintenance of effective departmental governance and reporting systems, including overseeing the development
of an annual audit program, safety and risk management arrangements and corporate and human resources projects and
priorities.
1. Develop effective relationships with business units to ensure the achievement of the department's objectives.
2. Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships and alliances with other government agencies and stakeholders.
3. Provide advice on a wide range of issues including organisational effectiveness, client consultation, cross-functional
relationships and continuous improvement.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience providing high quality business and executive support services including designing systems and processes.
2. Sound strategic, analytical and conceptual skills, including proven experience in policy and project formulation, development
and implementation.
3. High-level interpersonal and communication skills across a range of formats, including strategic planning, communications,
reports, submissions, correspondence and policy documents.
4. Demonstrated leadership and project management skills with the capacity to work collaboratively with senior executives
across a multi-faceted team and manage competing projects and deadlines.
5. Well-developed knowledge of contemporary issues and initiatives in relation to the area of responsibility and the strategic
directions of government.
6. High level knowledge of public sector governance frameworks and reporting requirements as well as processes, procedures
and policies of government.
1. Ability to deal with complex issues confidentially and discretely, and comply with legal, contractual, legislated and policy
obligations.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline e.g. business, law, public administration, risk management or other relevant area.
2. Experience developing, implementing and evaluating strategies, plans and policies.
