Job summary: Looking for candidates available to work: Monday: Morning, Afternoon Tuesday: Morning, Afternoon Wednesday: Morning, Afternoon Thursday: Morning, Afternoon Friday: Morning, Afternoon More than 4 years of relevant work experience required for this role Expected salary: $76,000 - $78,000 per year Position Title : Landscape Gardener Position Type : Full-time (minimum 38 hours per week) Position Location : Cairns North QLD 4870 Key Responsibilities Design and construct bespoke garden spaces using creative and sustainable landscape principles. Install and maintain plants, garden edgings, decorative stones, pavers, lawns, and irrigation systems. Construct rockeries and water features appropriate for tropical settings. Undertake regular garden maintenance including mowing, pruning, fertilising, watering, and pest/disease management. Prepare garden beds and turf areas, including soil conditioning, levelling, and turf laying. Plant, propagate, and nurture a range of tropical and native plant species using appropriate propagation techniques. Prune trees and hedges, install plant supports, and carry out shaping and lopping as needed to maintain tree and plant health. Monitor plant health and apply pest and disease treatments using safe and effective horticultural practices. Operate and maintain garden and landscape tools and machinery safely and efficiently. Maintain inventory and ensure tools and vehicles are serviced and kept in good working condition. Engage professionally and respectfully with clients, providing friendly and knowledgeable service. Assist in enforcing and maintaining Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards relevant to landscaping and horticulture on all work sites. Skills and Qualifications Minimum AQF Certificate III or IV in a relevant field or at least 3 years of relevant work experience if no formal qualification. Minimum 1 year of experience as a landscape gardener. Broad knowledge of tropical horticulture, including local plant species, soft landscaping techniques, pest/disease management, and lawn care. Competency in using and maintaining landscape and garden maintenance equipment such as mowers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and hand tools. Proven skills in soil preparation, turf installation, pruning, shaping, and plant propagation. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail. Ability to manage and prioritise tasks across multiple job sites. Open (manual) Driver’s Licence. Current Construction White Card (or equivalent general construction induction card). Permanent residency in the Cairns region.
