Postgraduate Fellow - Emergency - Calvary
Full‑time and part‑time opportunities. Salary classification: Postgraduate Fellow. Remuneration: $103.65 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options.
The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an affiliated health organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Our health services and clinic include coronary care and cardiology, surgery, intensive care, general medicine, research and 24/7 emergency care.
About the Role
The Postgraduate Fellow in the Emergency Department is responsible for the provision and documentation of safe, effective and appropriate patient‑centred medical care in a team‑based environment. This position requires participation on a 7‑day a week/24‑hr roster, with an ability to work in charge of the department on night shift.
* Senior Medical Officer in‑charge of the department, including night shift.
* Admitting Officer – coordinate and oversee deployment of resources with the nurse‑in‑charge to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner.
* Notify the on‑call ED consultant of staffing problems during the shift.
* Additional staff called in only on authorisation of ED consultant.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
About You
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
* Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or suitable overseas specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine or final year of training towards fellowship.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care.
* Experience in or knowledge of programmes for improving the organisation and delivery of care in Emergency Medicine.
