The service supports people who may have been living independently in the community but require a more supported environment to enhance their living skills, or those who may have completed their stay in hospital and are ready for community-based treatment and rehabilitation. The service is available to all residents living in regional South Australia, not just those from Whyalla. Further details regarding this can be found here Accommodation support may be available - conditions apply Support and Training: Supervision – as per the Regional LHN Allied Health Supervision Framework Access to Professional Development funding Support with transitioning into professional practice – through the Mental Health Allied Health Professional Practice Program (AHP1) Scholarships may be available to undertake a Certificate of Rural General Practice/Graduate Diploma of Rural Generalist Practice via the Allied Health Rural Generalist Pathway (AHRGP) Rural Generalist Program - JCU Australia Access to contextual Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training (specific to the region) and access to Aboriginal Liaison Officers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners Links with Rural and Remote Mental Health Services – for useful resources and professional support and/or Clinical Governance About the Role: As a Rehabilitation Clinician (AHP1/2) – whether an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, or Social Worker – you will bring your clinical expertise and passion for care to deliver meaningful, person-centred services for consumers, their careers, and families. You’ll draw on evidence-based practice to provide preventative care, early intervention, treatment, and evaluation, while offering individual and family therapy, group programs, psychological assessments, and community development initiatives. Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll also help guide and mentor less experienced staff and students. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on mental health services and play a vital part in improving the health and wellbeing of the community. Learn more about our Allied Health workforce Looking for a change in scenery? – Allied Health About You: Occupational Therapist Must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and as a regulated profession be eligible for registration as an occupational therapist in Australia. Psychologist AHP1: Must hold a recognised four-year qualification within the Psychology profession and be eligible to hold provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. For the duration of employment, the Provisional Psychologist must work toward full registration under an arrangement approved by the Board, such as a Clinical Master’s degree or a Psychology Internship and must comply with all Psychology Board requirements including those relating to clinical supervision and restrictions on practice. AHP2: Must hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. This normally requires at least an Honours Degree in Psychology and subsequent completion of 2 years of Board approved supervision and training as a Provisional Psychologist, either by completion of an approved Psychology postgraduate degree or in a Board approved psychology internship, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Psychology Board of Australia. Clinical endorsement with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligible and willing to participate in AHPRA Clinical Psychology Registrar Program is desirable. Social Worker Must hold a recognised qualification within the Social Work profession and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Must have participated on ongoing professional development in line with AASW guidelines.
