Structural Engineer We are proud to be partnering with Stantec – Energy & Resources to deliver the study for a world-class gold project in Southeast Asia. Stantec are assembling a highly skilled team across Australia to deliver this challenging assignment for their international client. Resourcing this study from Australia reflects Stantec’s strategy to increase its focus on major projects, strengthening capability in the local resources sector while contributing to global delivery. As a flagship project, its successful outcome will provide strong visibility within Stantec and open doors to future opportunities, both in Australia and across their global network. About the Project This large-scale greenfield development is progressing through its Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), with early works and execution phases to follow. The project presents the complexities typical of major gold and copper developments in the region: Extensive rainfall, flood risks, seismic activity and landslide risks Remote project location, requiring robust planning for logistics and non-process infrastructure Large and diverse work packages across NPI, port, and BOP Study-level outcomes that will form the baseline for execution About the Role As Structural Engineer you will support the development of study-level deliverables across NPI, BOP and port facilities. You will also contribute to the Level 3 Estimate. Responsibilities include: Develop structural design criteria, specifications, and Basis of Design (BoD) to support Level 3 estimate Define materials, durability requirements, and corrosion protection systems Establish design assumptions (loads, foundation concepts, sizing philosophy) for estimating Clearly define scope inclusions/exclusions and design boundaries Standardise structural solutions across NPI and BoP to ensure consistent estimating Prepare and validate quantities and MTOs (steel, concrete, ancillaries) aligned to WBS/CBS Support unit rate build-ups and ensure alignment with cost engineering Identify key cost drivers, risks, and estimate sensitivities Contribute to Basis of Estimate (BoE) and estimate reviews Develop DFS-level structural layouts and GA drawings (~10–40% definition) Interface with civil, geotechnical, mechanical, process, and project controls Incorporate constructability and execution considerations into design and specifications About You We are seeking Structural Engineers with: Degree-qualified in Civil/Structural Engineering Experience in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects Proven delivery in FEED/DFS or study phases Experience developing design criteria, specifications, and BoD documentation Strong understanding of Level 3 (budget) estimate development Demonstrated experience preparing MTOs and quantity-based estimates Experience working with cost engineers and project controls teams Working knowledge of structural design tools (e.g. SpaceGass, STAAD, SAP2000) Familiarity with 3D model environments (e.g. Navisworks, OpenPlant, E3D) Strong commercial awareness and cost focus Conditions Monday to Friday Hours: 40 per week plus approved overtime Initial 12-month contract with extension, aligned with DFS delivery (early indication leading towards full EPCM)
