Why this role matters
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for leading the Engineering function across our New Zealand manufacturing operation. As a key member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team, you will provide strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure production and facilities assets perform reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
You will drive capital planning, asset performance, digital enablement and continuous improvement initiatives, while building a high‐performing engineering team aligned to Douglas' long‐term growth strategy.
What you'll do
* Provide clear and inspiring leadership to the Engineering team, coaching and developing future leaders.
* Develop and execute engineering strategy aligned with operational and business objectives.
* Lead maintenance, metrology, facilities and automation functions to deliver best‐practice asset performance.
* Champion Lean thinking and a continuous improvement culture across manufacturing operations.
* Drive digital transformation and automation initiatives across the manufacturing value chain.
* Lead capital expenditure planning and manage departmental budgets.
* Ensure all engineering activities meet GMP, quality and compliance standards.
What you'll bring
* Proven senior engineering leadership experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
* Strong background across mechanical, electrical and automation engineering.
* Experience leading maintenance and asset management strategy in complex operations.
* Demonstrated success driving digital transformation or manufacturing automation initiatives.
1. Deep understanding of GMP and quality‐driven environments (pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry preferred).
2. Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and capital projects.
3. A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholder groups.
