Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) – Broome Senior High School, Broome. This pool is being established for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Location
Broome, Western Australia. Broome is a vibrant coastal town in the Kimberley region with resources and services available for residents and visitors.
The Role
As an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO), you will provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families/guardians, teachers, the school and the community. You will share knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture to inform safe, culturally responsive and effective educational experiences.
AIEOs act as a liaison between the community and the school to develop education programs that address both educational and cultural needs. You will mentor and provide pastoral care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, to support participation and achievement in the school environment. You will support teachers to implement the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. The successful applicant should demonstrate a strong link to Aboriginal culture and establish positive working relationships with families and the local community. Ability to work both in teams and individually to achieve positive outcomes will be highly regarded.

Eligibility
To work with us, you must:
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment;
* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to, and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
