About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, multi-skilled Scientist specialised in Haematology, Biochemistry, Transfusion and Stat-Microbiology and highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team.
* Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection.
* Assisting with stock control.
* Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols.
* Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols.
* Maintaining current scientific knowledge.
* Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities.
* Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required.
* Participating in training staff.
* Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
* Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
* Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline.
* S sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting.
* Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
* Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision.
* An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence.
