About this role
The primary function of a Safety Engineer is to ensure compliance with local and federal government safety regulations. This involves conducting activities applicable to contracted System Safety Plans, including safety assessments, hazard analysis, and ensuring that all training systems meet applicable safety standards throughout the training system lifecycle.
Key responsibilities:
* Participate in design reviews and provide safety input during all phases of the system development lifecycle.
* Conduct system safety analyses and develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety cases, hazard logs, and risk assessments.
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety requirements are understood and met.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in an engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent working experience, ideally in systems engineering.
* Preferably have experience in the defense industry.
* Experience and exposure to simulation-based environments is highly desirable.
* Proven experience developing and maintaining safety engineering frameworks.

Security requirements:
As the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
