We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead and deliver high quality financial management that enables our mission for a greener and more peaceful future.RoleFull time, Permanent PositionLocation: Flexible – Open to candidates Australia wideTHE TEAMReporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Manager plays a vital strategic and operational role within the Governance and Performance Department.
You will lead a small finance team, including a Payroll Officer and Accounts Payable Officer, and oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and treasury functions.THE ROLEWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to lead and deliver high quality financial management that enables our ambitious mission for a green and peaceful future.Key responsibilities include:Lead, inspire, and support the finance team to deliver on reporting deadlines and organisational goals.Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly accounts, analysis, and reporting.Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support organisational objectives.Maintain compliance with accounting standards, taxation, audit, and statutory obligations.Manage treasury functions, including cash flow monitoring and foreign currency transactions.Support organisational projects with financial insights, including enterprise bargaining and system improvements.Drive continual improvement of finance processes and reporting systems.Represent GPAP in external financial matters and maintain effective relationships with auditors, regulators, and global Greenpeace offices.This role is a hands-on leadership position, responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with statutory and international requirements, and continuous improvement of finance processes.
You will also provide meaningful analysis and advice to support decision-making across the organisation, while fostering a culture of financial compliance and excellence.THE IDEAL CANDIDATEYou are a highly skilled finance professional with both technical expertise and strong leadership skills.
You bring a proactive, analytical mindset and the ability to translate financial insights into practical advice.
You thrive in a fast-paced, values-driven environment and are motivated to contribute to a global mission for environmental justice.You'll ideally also have:Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce, or related field with CA/CPA qualification.At least five years' experience in a senior finance role, including three years in people management.Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AAS), IFRS, and taxation legislation (GST, FBT, DGR).
Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.Experience in managing payroll and payroll budgets.Demonstrated ability to manage audits, financial compliance, and risk.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience supporting non-financial stakeholders.Advanced proficiency in Excel, accounting systems, and finance software.We recognise that sometimes the right person for a job is based on personal qualities and not just qualifications.
