Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated workers with a specialisation in complex mental health to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting individuals with mental health conditions and will play a crucial role in providing personalised care and assistance to our participants.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide person-centred support to individuals with disabilities and mental health diagnosis living in SIL settings.
* Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
* Provide person centred care and support to individuals with complex mental health needs.
* Safely and effectively manage and de-escalate behaviours such as self-harm, property damage, sexualised behaviours, and verbal or physical aggression.
* Implement behaviour support strategies, including crisis intervention techniques, to ensure the safety of participants and staff.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised support plans.
* Accurately document and report on participant progress in a timely manner.
* Foster a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes positive behaviours and healthy relationships.
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes independence, choice, and dignity.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience supporting individuals with trauma including childhood trauma, Complex PTSD or other adverse life events. Proficiency in trauma informed care principles and interventions.
* Experience supporting individuals exhibiting complex behaviours associated with mental health conditions such as aggression, self-harm or disordered thinking.
* A minimum of 1-2 years experience supporting individuals with complex mental health conditions is required.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and inactive sleepovers, as required.
* A current First Aid certificate and a valid driver's licence are advantageous.
* NDIS Workers Clearance, Police Check and Working with Children Check (WWCC) are required for this role.
