Overview
Manager - External Reporting and Technical Accounting. This is a permanent role within the Finance business unit, reporting to the Executive Manager - External Reporting and Technical Accounting. The successful candidate will support the preparation, delivery and review of NBN Co's statutory reporting, provide expert technical accounting advice on a cross functional basis and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards. The role focuses on external reporting, technical accounting and sustainability reporting, delivering requirements for external and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
A bit about your role
The External Reporting component involves assisting management in the preparation, review and delivery of external financial and shareholder reporting, including the Annual Integrated Report, Half Year Report and the Sustainability Standards effective from 1 July 2025. This includes coordinating and overseeing other team members and consultants who form a core delivery team for these reports.
In respect of Technical Accounting, the role helps set and maintain NBN Co's accounting policies and provides accounting solutions for complex transactions. It ensures support for all reported positions withstands internal and external audit scrutiny, including the preparation of robust accounting position memos and reports and drafting Board and Audit and Risk Committee reporting on significant accounting matters. The role also supports stakeholder inquiries as required.
A bit about you
You will have a strong background in financial reporting for large listed (or equivalent) corporate entities or experience from big accounting firms. You will have demonstrated experience in an external reporting function within a fast-paced organisation, including specialist technical accounting expertise. Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce or accounting, and a Professional Accounting qualification (CA) or equivalent, are essential.
You will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving ability and the capacity to build effective relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business. You will be highly motivated, able to work autonomously, act as an influential leader and participate collaboratively in a team. A can-do attitude with strong interpersonal skills to partner with management and business stakeholders is essential.
