Job Details

DevOps Engineers, also known as Systems Administration Experts, work closely with development teams to provide (and support) the environment needed to deliver the organisation's services quickly and efficiently, using automation and self-service.

A Siebel Environment Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimising Siebel CRM environments across development, testing, and production. This role involves administering Siebel applications, performing application code migrations, and contributing to development tasks to ensure seamless system performance and delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include some or all of the following:

* Working across the Siebel Core Application in areas including Siebel latest version Architecture, Platform Design, and Siebel Integration
* Technical analysis of the application system, its integration points to various technologies and the related architectural dependencies within IT Operations
* Managing Siebel Product dependencies, features, sizing and defect reviews with Oracle engagement
* Executing core Siebel Administration tasks including migrations, server maintenance/troubleshooting, database extracts, position/responsibility administration, monitoring server tasks, managing Siebel services
* Develop and maintain Siebel Administration process and technical documentation
* Develop and implement technical changes to improve stability and reduce recurring issues
* Implementation of Siebel Server/Application Disaster recovery process
* Develop and maintain Siebel gateway server high availability and load balancing
* Siebel file system cleanup and storage management
* Siebel environment/server provisioning on Windows and Linux
* Troubleshoot Siebel server and application performance issues
* Develop automation scripts for administration tasks
* Develop and execute Siebel containerisation and cloud deployments
* Engage with technical teams across Fusion Middleware, networks, Oracle DB and authentication systems
* Provide technical expertise across systems, infrastructure and applications
* Manage system capacity planning, monitoring and performance tuning
* Identify and implement best practice improvements
* Troubleshoot escalated incidents and minimise business disruption
* Perform change analysis and support upgrades and patches
* Prepare and review documentation and reports
* Provide technical advice and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement
* Participate in technical design activities
* Provide knowledge transfer to team members

Technical Skills

Specialisations include but are not limited to:

* Siebel TBUI
* Siebel Workflows
* Siebel Scripting
* Siebel Configuration
* Siebel Integration (EAI) and OpenUI frameworks
* Technical knowledge of Siebel architecture, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Policy Automation
* Understanding of Siebel Oracle stack technology

Selection Criteria

Essential criteria

* Availability management: Level 4 (SFIA) Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Contributes to the availability management process and its operation. Performs defined availability management tasks. Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Implements arrangements for disaster recovery and documents recovery procedures. Conducts testing of recovery procedures.
* Methods and tools: Level 5 (SFIA) Provides advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards. Contributes to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools. Implements methods and tools at programme, project and team levels including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards. Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools. Identifies and recommends improvements.
* Programming/software development: Level 4 (SFIA) Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services. Contributes to the selection of the software development methods, tools and techniques. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes. Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
* Systems design: Level 5 (SFIA) Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Ensures that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Reviews systems designs and ensures that appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively. Makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Adopts and adapts system design methods, tools and techniques. Contributes to development of system design policies, standards and selection of architecture components.
* Systems development management: Level 5 (SFIA) Plans and drives systems development projects which support the organisation's objectives and plans. Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate systems development methods, tools and techniques. Ensures that stakeholders are aware of required resources and that they are made available. Facilitates availability and optimum utilisation of resources. Monitors and reports on the progress of development projects. Ensures projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods and tools and addresses security and privacy requirements. Develops road maps to communicate future development activity.
* Systems integration and build: Level 5 (SFIA) Plans and drives activities to develop organisational systems integration and build capabilities including automation and continuous integration. Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of tools, techniques and processes to create a robust integration framework. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of systems integration. Leads integration work in line with the agreed system and service design. Assesses risks and takes preventative action. Measures and monitors applications of standards. Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for systems integration.
