The Role

Child Safety Practitioners work with children, young people and families who are vulnerable or in crisis to ensure children are safe and protected from harm.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Responding to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children in accordance with the Children and Community Service Act 2004.
* Taking legal action to promote the safety and wellbeing of children where necessary.
* Providing services to children placed in the care of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
* Connecting identified families and their children with support services and community resources.
* Working alongside families to strengthen their capacity to provide care and safety to their family members in ways that are sustainable, build resilience in children, families and the community, and enhance social wellbeing.

Opportunities

We currently have the following opportunities available in our Kalgoorlie office:

* Two permanent, full-time opportunities (positions 006688 and 003674).
* Three temporary, full-time opportunities available for up to 3 months, with the possibility of extension(s) and permanency (positions 019666, 003680 and 003671).

What Are We Looking For?

To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate:

* Knowledge of Child Protection and the approaches needed to enhance child safety and wellbeing.
* Knowledge of, or experience in the engagement, assessment, and intervention with parents, children, and families.
* Strong communication skills, and demonstrated skills in analysis and intervention planning, with the ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
* Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and culturally diverse people.
* A relevant tertiary qualification (see Qualification Requirements below).

Qualification Requirements

You must have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or a relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency. Refer to our information about qualification requirements and how we will assess your qualifications.
