Heavy Haulage Transport Manager (BCH SA)
Big Chief Heavy Haulage is expanding fast, and we're looking for an experienced leader to take charge of our growing fleet and coordinate heavy haulage operations across local and interstate routes.
What You'll Do
* Ensure full compliance with NHVR legislation and regulations
* Oversee and coordinate interstate road trains and local heavy haulage operations—from B-double combinations through to single trailer movements across South Australia and interstate
* Manage the transport of heavy machinery — including excavators, dump trucks, skidsteers, rollers, loaders and other large plant equipment
* Lead, support and coordinate a team of experienced drivers and logistics staff to keep operations running smoothly
* Plan routes, permits and schedules — balancing efficiency, compliance and safety across every job
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while working closely with the wider Big Chief network to deliver reliable outcomes
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience managing heavy haulage or machinery transport operations
* In-depth knowledge of NHVR legislation, heavy vehicle compliance and driver fatigue management requirements
* Strong understanding of oversize and over mass transport regulations, permits and industry safety standards
* Practical knowledge of what it takes to safely load, secure and transport heavy plant
* Confident communicator and natural problem-solver who leads from the front
* Calm under pressure, proactive, organised and committed to getting the job done right
