The Fraser Coast Dunga Derby is the flagship fundraising event of Rally for a Cause, an award-winning charity dedicated to supporting families and individuals affected by life-limiting medical conditions.
The Dunga Derby is a unique, fun-filled car rally event that brings communities together while raising essential funds for a great cause.
The Event Coordinator is a key role in the planning, coordination and delivery of the annual Dunga Derby and associated fundraising and promotional events.
This position supports the operational and logistical aspects of events, liaising with participants, sponsors, volunteers, vendors and stakeholders to ensure successful execution and memorable experiences. This position is required to attend the annual four-day event and other key related events such as welcome night, scrutineering and safety briefing, presentation night and officials' meetings.
Key Responsibilities
• Planning and coordination of the Fraser Coast Dunga Derby and associated events (registrations, scrutineering and safety briefing, officials' recruitment and training, welcome night, presentation night, communication and reports for Dunga Derby executive committee and board)
• Communicate regularly with rally participants, sponsors, route masters and volunteers to ensure deadlines are met.
• Coordinate event logistics including venue bookings, all required permits (Qld Parks and Wildlife, Qld Police Service), equipment hire and catering.
• Manage registrations, participant information, and merchandise ordering and timely distribution.
• Support Dunga Derby sponsorship management and stakeholder engagement and work with Angel Families to ensure recipient experience.
• Assist with marketing, promotion and assist daily social media activities and promotion.
• Contribute to event safety planning, including risk and activity assessments and
compliance documentation.
• Provide on-site event support, including set-up, coordination and pack-down and management of officials on the annual Dunga Derby and associated events.
• Maintain records, reports, and event data as required and work to a pre-
determined budget.
• Collaborate with the Rally for a Cause team and committee members to deliver on fundraising and event goals.

Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
• Demonstrated experience in event coordination or a related role.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite and basic digital tools (e.g.,
spreadsheets, email marketing platforms).
• Proficiency with social media platforms, particularly Facebook, LinkedIn and
Instagram.
• Availability for occasional weekend and evening work, especially during and
lead-up to event periods.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a passion for community engagement and
charitable work.
Desirable:
• Experience in community or fundraising events.
• Familiarity with rural or regional event delivery.
• Basic knowledge of WHS and risk management for events.
• Graphic design and social media experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team and offer flexibility.
