Due to continued growth, our client in the
Aerospace and Defence
sector is seeking a
Senior Design Engineer (Structures and Mechanical Systems)
to join their expanding aviation design team. This position plays a key role in supporting the development, approval, and certification of aircraft modifications and repairs under
CASA 21M
regulations.
You'll be part of a highly skilled engineering team, providing technical leadership across structures and mechanical systems, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the ongoing advancement of aircraft safety, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and approve aircraft repairs and modifications under
CASA 21.M Instrument of Appointment
.
* Provide expert input into
structures and mechanical systems design
and analysis.
* Support continuing
airworthiness management
activities for airline customers.
* Mentor and guide junior engineers within a multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver specialist consultancy and engineering support across aerospace and defence programs.
* Participate in the rotating after-hours
AOG (Aircraft-on-Ground)
support roster.
* Liaise with regulatory authorities, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance and quality outcomes.
About You
To be considered, you
must currently hold
or have recently held a
CASA Instrument of Appointment (IoA) for Structures and Mechanical Systems.
* A
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
(essential).
* Airline
background with
CASA 21.M Instrument of Appointment
under Regulation – Structures and Systems & Equipment (Mechanical) (Must have).
* 10+ years of experience in aircraft repair, modification, and in-service support (essential).
* Prior design approval authority with
civil or airline airworthiness authorities
.
* Strong working knowledge of
CASA, DASA, FAA, and EASA
regulatory frameworks.
* Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
* High attention to detail, professional integrity, and excellent communication skills.
Salary:
$140,000 - $150,000 + super
Location:
Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne
