Senior Civil Engineer
We are looking for a suitably qualified Senior Civil Engineer to join the team. You will be responsible for leading the planning, delivery and ongoing management of Council's transport and stormwater infrastructure, providing expert engineering advice and overseeing asset renewal and capital works programmes that support a safe, resilient and sustainable community.
About the Role
As Senior Civil Engineer you will provide strategic and technical leadership across Council's transport and stormwater infrastructure. The role focuses on long‐term planning, capital works delivery and providing expert engineering advice to support sustainable infrastructure outcomes for the community.
Responsibilities
* Oversee strategic planning and management of Council's stormwater and transport infrastructure, including the development of strategies, policies and management plans.
* Provide specialist engineering and hydraulic advice to support infrastructure planning, asset management and development assessments.
* Develop and oversee long‐term capital works programmes and coordinate delivery of key transport and stormwater projects.
* Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues raised by internal stakeholders, the community and external agencies.
* Monitor programme performance, maintain asset information and provide reporting on engineering activities and outcomes.
* Represent Council in discussions with government agencies, consultants and the community on engineering matters.
* Provide leadership and support to staff, fostering a collaborative and high‐performing team environment.
Qualifications and Experience
* A degree in Civil Engineering and eligibility for or holding Chartered status in Australia, with knowledge of municipal engineering including stormwater, roads and traffic.
* Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects end‐to‐end, from planning and budgeting through to construction.
* Strong technical expertise in transport and stormwater engineering, flood management and development assessments, ideally within local government or a similar environment.
* Demonstrated ability to develop infrastructure strategies, policies and asset management approaches aligned with legislative requirements.
* Leadership skills to guide teams and manage consultants and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
* Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) or the ability to obtain it.
* A current driver's licence is desirable.
