The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Operations Specialist to join a leading multinational scaffolding business based in NSW or Queensland. This role is central to the delivery of HSEQ excellence across complex government, commercial, and infrastructure projects nationwide.
This permanent, full-time position will report to the National Operations Manager, Commercial Services, and work closely with national operations teams to drive HSEQ performance in high-risk environments.
The focus of the role is operational. You will provide both strategic support and practical, on-the-ground guidance to ensure HSEQ policies, procedures, targets, and initiatives are clearly understood, effectively implemented, and consistently monitored across all relevant sites.
This position has a national remit and will require regular interstate travel.

Who are you?
You hold a minimum of Cert IV in WHS and have at least three years of field experience in government, commercial, or infrastructure projects. Qualifications in RTW Coordination, Training & Assessment, Auditing, and ICAM Investigations are highly regarded.
Preference will be given to candidates with scaffolding systems experience.
You are a motivated self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team. Your leadership approach is people-centered, seeing workers as key to achieving safety and quality goals.
You understand the complexities of large-scale projects and are comfortable managing multiple sites across different States. You take a practical, hands-on approach and pay close attention to how work is performed, collaborating with operations to ensure HSEQ systems are followed and improved.
A valid driver's license with a good driving history is required for this role.
What You Will Do
As a HSEQ Operations Specialist, you will play a hands-on and strategic role in driving health, safety, environment, and quality outcomes nationally. Your focus will be on supporting government, commercial, and infrastructure projects, where risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement are critical.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Providing expert HSEQ support to operational teams delivering large-scale scaffolding projects across government projects, commercial developments, and infrastructure sites
* Working closely with site leaders and crews, applying a "boots on ground" approach to understand operational realities, influence behaviours, and identify safety and quality risks in real time.
* Translating HSEQ systems and requirements into practical site-level actions, ensuring alignment with the specific conditions and compliance demands of government and infrastructure led projects.
* Conducting regular inspections and verifications, supporting operational teams to address non-conformances and embed a strong safety and quality culture.
* Leading incident response and investigations, focusing on root cause analysis and learning, with practical recommendations to prevent recurrence.
* Supporting the national implementation of Waco's HSEQ strategy, including targeted improvement initiatives aligned with government and infrastructure project requirements.
