Role Type: 12-month part time contract (22.8 hours per week)
Salary: $70,310 - $74,618 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation
The opportunity:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Assistant (New Starters) to join our Payroll team on a part-time basis (22.8 hours per week). This role plays a key support function, with a primary focus on the accurate and timely setup of new employees in the SAP payroll system.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will ensure employee data is entered and maintained accurately and in line with relevant policies, awards, and procedures. This position is ideal for someone eager to build a career in payroll—comprehensive training across payroll administration processes will be provided upon commencement.
What you'll do
Set up new employees in the SAP payroll system, including personal, employment, and pay-related details
Maintain and update employee master files, including changes to roles, contracts, and reporting lines
Process payroll-related deductions such as salary packaging, car parking, crèche, and employee events
Support end-of-month activities, including master file checks and payroll reporting
Respond to employee and manager enquiries in a professional and timely manner
Provide general support to the payroll team, including assisting with additional tasks during peak periods
What you'll bring
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record maintenance
Proven administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Confidence using computer systems and databases for data entry and record management
Ability to follow established processes and work in line with policies, awards, and procedures
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience in payroll, People and Culture administration, or employee onboarding is highly regarded
