About the role
The role of Cardiothorasic Surgeon is to provide inpatient and outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgical Services to the Geelong Hospital, Barwon Health
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality Cardiothoracic surgical services across inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care for public and private patients.
* Provide clinical leadership and collaboration, including consultative support to other departments, participation in after-hours rosters, and contribution to clinical standards and multidisciplinary care.
* Maintain excellence in clinical governance and documentation, ensuring comprehensive communication, accurate medical records, participation in audit activities, and compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.
* Contribute to teaching, research and medical education, including supervision of medical students, participation in clinical education programs, and involvement in research initiatives.
* Promote quality, safety and professional standards, including adherence to OHS requirements, incident reporting, continuous professional development, and active participation in quality improvement activities
What we're looking for
* Medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
* Demonstrated post-fellowship experience as an independent Cardiothoracic Surgeon, with audited operative practice.
* Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team
