Conservation Leadership Role
The Operations Manager position offers a unique opportunity to lead vital conservation programs in one of Australia's most unique environments. You will work alongside traditional owners and indigenous ranger teams, making a lasting impact on cultural heritage and biodiversity.
The Organization combines traditional ecological knowledge with Western science to protect and manage the west Arnhem Land's unique landscapes. Our work includes fire management, carbon abatement, weed and feral animal control, rock art conservation, and cultural heritage protection.
The Opportunity
As an Operations Manager, you will play a key leadership role in delivering flagship IPA programs and managing infrastructure across remote ranger bases. This hands-on position is ideal for someone passionate about conservation and cultural integrity.
* Oversee fire, weed, and feral animal management programs
* Manage infrastructure, fleet, and assets across the IPA
* Lead contractor engagement and performance, including procurement and contract terms
* Develop operational plans and systems to improve efficiency
* Support ranger teams and foster cultural respect and collaboration
Location: Darwin, NT, with extensive travel to the Warddeken IPA.
About You
We are seeking an experienced professional who has worked in remote Aboriginal communities and understands cultural protocols. Strong leadership and project management skills are essential, as well as practical knowledge of land management and infrastructure maintenance. A strong financial acumen and excellent communication and problem-solving skills are also required. Flexibility to travel regularly to remote bush locations is a must.
Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering, Project, or Business Management are highly desirable. A manual driver's license, 4WD experience, and Ochre Card are also necessary.
