About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to development and delivery of resources, guidance and professional learning that improve the quality of teaching of First Nations history, culture and perspectives across the curriculum, and support truth-telling in the curriculum.
The Senior Program Advisor works within a small team of staff that make up the First Nations Curriculum and Truth-telling Unit, Koorie Outcomes Division. As well as improving the quality of teaching of First Nations history, culture and perspectives across the curriculum, and support truth-telling in the curriculum, the Unit also leads department work with First Nations communities to grow the teaching of Victorian Aboriginal languages and provides supports to schools to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes for First Nations students.
Work Type
This role is offered on a fixed-term basis until June 2028, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.
Attributes
This role requires extensive stakeholder consultation and co-design with First Nations communities, Aboriginal organisations and Traditional Owners, schools and regional staff. The successful candidate will have project management and delivery skills and experience and will be an experienced educator and/or will have a comprehensive knowledge of teaching and learning in the context of the Victorian Curriculum.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
1. Essential: Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal self-determination with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
2. Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification, diploma or degree, in education.
