Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
The role is for Technical Engineering Experts experienced in Database who will be required to manage their own workloads as well as guiding junior team members with administrative duties and project responsibilities including version upgrades and migrations.
They will need to have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders (both technical and non- technical) and take ownership and initiative of projects assigned. Assist a team of engineers by providing technical guidance and solutions to maintain on premise Database infrastructure and exploring cloud hosted database options. Liaise between technical services teams such as Microsoft SQL and Oracle database, application developers, SharePoint, and associated infrastructure teams (Backup/storage, Windows, Linux/Unix server, network and virtualized desktop).
Key duties and responsibilities
Duties may include some or all of the following:
§ assist with delivery of an optimal strategic system landscape.
§ manage the design, installation and operation of the ICT system instance landscape, client and transport processes.
§ provide broad technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities.
§ configure and manage all non-functional platform capabilities including job scheduling, output management, email, archiving, technical security, technical connectivity between software components.
§ liaise with the infrastructure team in the design, procurement and deployment of hardware and related assets.
§ manage the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers.
§ manage the operation of backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions for IT systems.
§ manage the administration and operation of the database solution.
§ manage and execute data archiving to forecast infrastructure growth.
§ manage technical operations for ICT solutions and interfaces develop plans for backups and disaster recovery, and execute those plans when necessary.
§ perform problem management and root cause analysis.
§ support alignment with key third party suppliers.
§ manage technical change management.
§ contribute to and influence ICT strategy resolving conflicts as needed.
§ encourage innovation, continuous improvement and manage and support change.
§ proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
§ collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project
§ outcomes.
§ prepare and review a range of technical documentation and reports.
§ resolve and/or escalate issues that adversely impact on policy, performance and/or customer service, including disaster/emergency situations.
§ monitor and manage work output and quality against established performance standards.

Essential criteria
1. 5+ years solid experience as Enterprise Database Administration (DBA) for SQL Server 2019
to 2022 and/or Oracle 19c+.
2. Experience with Always On Availability Groups and or Oracle Always-On monitoring.
3. Extensive experience in Troubleshooting, Performance Tuning and problem solving.
Desirable criteria
1. Recent hands on administration across several relevant platforms, for example LEX (Legal
Case Management), IBM Planning Analytics TM1 and COBRA, Atlassian Jira, Esri ArcGIS
and IQ Office, Jade Investigator, Blue Prism RPA, Kiteworks Managed File Transfer,
Syncplify.me SFTP, and SerraView.
2. Practical automation and observability, including PowerShell scripting that reduces manual
effort, along with alerts and log analysis that improve availability and shorten time to restore.
