Join the Mining Division of the Department of Lands, Planning & Environment in a key role delivering specialist technical advice relating to the regulation of environmental (mining) licences under the Northern Territory Environment Protection Act 2019 (EP Act). Based in Darwin or Alice Springs, this position provides assessment of licence applications and supporting technical information, licence issue, and related compliance and enforcement activities, including site inspections. The successful applicant will bring strong technical capability in analysing and interpreting information from a diverse range of sources, the capacity for leading and mentoring of more junior officers, and a keen interest in the development of solutions and communicating outputs related to the diverse environmental issues encountered by the mining industry. High level interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and high level oral and written communication skills suitable for conveying complex technical information in a professional and appropriate manner will be essential. Relevant practical skills including the operation of 4WD vehicles in the field and well-developed computer skills for the management and manipulation of spatial data in an appropriate GIS software package are also required for the role. Successful candidates will be based in either the Darwin or Alice Springs office.
