Stakeholder Engagement Lead – North West Transmission Developments (NWTD)

GenusPlus Group – Transmission & Energy Infrastructure

About the Role
Genus is seeking an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Lead to support delivery of the North West Transmission Developments (NWTD) in Tasmania.

This is a key role supporting one of Tasmania’s most significant energy infrastructure programs. You will lead landholder, community and stakeholder engagement across all project phases, building trust, managing impacts and ensuring alignment with the Principal and delivery partners.

Working across project teams, client representatives and external stakeholders, you will help embed proactive engagement into delivery, support transparent communication, reduce risk and ensure stakeholder insights inform project decisions. Success in this role requires a credible and pragmatic engagement professional who can manage sensitive issues and build confidence across a complex regional stakeholder landscape.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of landholder, community and stakeholder engagement activities across all phases of the project, including design, construction and commissioning.
* Develop and implement engagement plans, systems and processes aligned with project objectives, client expectations, contractual obligations and the Principal’s overarching engagement strategy.
* Act as, or oversee, a primary contact model for impacted landholders, ensuring timely information sharing, consultation and two-way feedback into project planning and delivery.
* Support landholder and land access engagement by helping stakeholders understand processes, protocols and construction impacts, while working to minimise disruption wherever possible.
* Partner closely with delivery and construction teams to identify stakeholder risks, community sensitivities and interface issues early, and develop practical mitigation strategies.
* Provide strategic advice to project leaders and client representatives on stakeholder sentiment, emerging issues, reputational risk and social licence considerations.
* Support the management of commitments, complaints, enquiries, disputes and stakeholder feedback, ensuring responses are timely, respectful, consistent and well documented.
* Translate complex technical, environmental and construction information into clear, accessible messaging for a range of audiences.
* Prepare and maintain engagement records, stakeholder databases, reports, briefings, insights and escalation materials to support governance, performance tracking and continuous improvement.
* Work collaboratively with client representatives, delivery partners and internal functions including construction, environment, cultural heritage, safety, land/property, approvals and communications to ensure a coordinated and best-practice engagement approach.
* Help build stakeholder engagement capability across the project by coaching others and promoting consistent, proactive engagement practices.
* Support community benefit, local procurement and broader social value initiatives where relevant to the project and surrounding communities.
Skills & Experience Required
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, public relations, communications or stakeholder management.
* Demonstrated experience leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of strategic engagement plans in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
* Significant experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, external affairs, landholder engagement or communications within infrastructure, utilities, energy, transport, resources, construction or government.
* Proven ability to engage credibly with landholders, communities, councils and other stakeholders in sensitive, complex or contested environments.
* Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in diverse regional communities.
* Demonstrated experience identifying and managing stakeholder risk, issues, complaints and reputational considerations in project environments.
* Strong judgement, resilience and problem-solving capability, with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond calmly to challenging stakeholder issues.
* Experience preparing high-quality engagement materials, reports, briefings, performance updates and stakeholder insights for internal and external audiences.
* Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within Tasmania, particularly the North West region.
Desirable
* Experience working on transmission, linear infrastructure, renewable energy or other major capital projects.
* Familiarity with landholder engagement, land access, easement interfaces and minimising construction impacts in rural or regional environments.
* Knowledge of Tasmania’s regional stakeholder landscape, energy transition context and/or major project approvals environment.
* Experience engaging with Aboriginal stakeholders and/or supporting projects involving cultural heritage and environmental sensitivities.
* Understanding of community benefit sharing, local procurement and broader social impact principles in infrastructure delivery.
Benefits
* Opportunity to contribute to one of Tasmania’s most significant energy infrastructure programs.
* Key role within a growing transmission and energy infrastructure business.
* High-impact position with genuine strategic influence across project delivery and stakeholder outcomes.
* Collaborative and values-driven team environment.
* Competitive remuneration package and career development opportunities.
* Flexible working arrangements supported where operationally feasible.
