Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership
* Deputise for the Ombudsman and represent them as required.
* Promote the work of Ombudsman Tasmania.
* Business Planning and Operations
* Contribute to business planning and ensure efficient delivery of complaint, project, and research activities.
* Oversee financial and human resources.
* Advice and Representation
* Provide timely, strategic advice to the Ombudsman and external stakeholders.
* Represent the Ombudsman in outreach activities and liaison with agencies and other contacts.
* Corporate Planning and Leadership
* Contribute to corporate planning, ensuring accountability mechanisms and strategies for workplace improvements.
* Provide effective leadership and governance for the office, based on a collaborative culture.
* Complaints and Investigations
* Provide strategic and operational leadership to complaints and investigations functions.
* Liaise with key agencies to promote public interest disclosures through policy development and training.
* Budgeting and Evaluation
* Drive budgeting, corporate, and business planning frameworks to optimise the Office's investments.
* Provide technical leadership for complaints management, investigation, and Right to Information staff.
* Authority and Resources
* Exercise delegated authority to conduct investigations, audits, and reviews under relevant legislation.
* Allocate and manage resources consistent with the current and emerging workloads of the Office and within budget.
