Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time National Logistics Manager to lead and improve the way we move and store our products across the country. Based at our Yarraville VIC head office and reporting to the General Manager, Supply Chain this role ensures our freight, transport and warehousing activities run efficiently, safely and in line with our business and customer needs.
The sweet things you'll be involved in:
You will work closely with our national sites, transport partners and internal teams to deliver practical logistics solutions, manage key contracts, and identify ways to reduce our cost to serve. A key part of the role is ensuring we meet our Chain of Responsibility requirements, improving stock planning and movement, and maintaining accurate inventory across the network.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Developing and implementing practical logistics, transport and warehousing solutions that improve how our product moves across the country
* Providing day to day leadership, coaching and support to the logistics team, helping build capability and effective ways of working
* Managing key logistics and warehousing contracts, ensuring clear expectations and reliable performance from our partners
* Leading the procurement and tendering of freight and warehouse services, securing competitive commercial and service outcomes
* Championing Chain of Responsibility and support safe, compliant behaviours with our carriers and sites
* Improving the efficiency of our network by optimising transport modes, routing, equipment use and freight frequency
* Working with internal teams to align stock holdings and stock movements with business and customer needs
* Strengthening inventory accuracy and controls to support DIFOT and minimise stock losses
* Identifying and delivering cost to serve improvements and opportunities to reduce waste
* Building collaborative relationships with operations teams, transport providers and commercial stakeholders
* Leading issue resolution for freight and carrier matters to maintain service continuity
* Keeping our logistics and warehouse contingency plans current and fit-for-purpose
* Contributing to broader supply chain and commercial projects that support business priorities
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
We're looking for an experienced logistics leader with strong people leadership, negotiation and commercial skills. You'll bring:
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or a related discipline
* 10+ years leadership experience in logistics, freight, supply chain or operations
* FMCG or food manufacturing experience (highly regarded)
* Proven people leadership experience in coaching and developing teams
* Strong negotiation and supplier engagement skills
* Understanding of transport networks, warehouse operations and freight optimisation
* Commercial acumen with experience managing significant budgets
* Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing across functions
* Strong problem solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
* SAP experience (highly regarded)
* A safety-first approach and a strong understanding of Chain of Responsibility
