As a trainee within Council's Arts, Tourism Venues and Events Branch, you'll gain practical skills while completing a nationally recognised qualification. Whether you're supporting technical services at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre or providing administration and customer service for our Events, you'll play a key role in delivering memorable experiences for our community.


About The Opportunities

As an Administration Trainee - Events, you'll gain practical experience in real workplace settings while developing the essential skills needed for a successful career. You will join our Events Team and learn what goes into the coordination of Council-run events. Core duties may include:

* Customer service and reception support
* Handling enquiries (phone, email and counter)
* Data entry, document processing and records management
* Scanning, filing and maintaining accurate documentation
* Assisting with meeting coordination, events, interviews or training
* Supporting administrative workflows within operational teams

As a Technical Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience in live theatre and cinema technical operations at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre while completing a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services. You will develop practical production skills through structured training, mentoring and real-world technical work during performances, rehearsals, cinema screenings and events. Core duties may include:

* Assisting with the maintenance and preparation of technical assets and equipment.
* Supporting lighting, sound, projection, rigging and mechanical operations during shows.
* Helping deliver outstanding technical support to internal and external clients.
* Participating in the setup, pack-down and operation of technical equipment for productions.
* Assisting with cinema projection, programming, operation and basic maintenance.
* Supporting scenery and set construction, lighting setups and sound activities.
* Documenting maintenance work and following safety procedures and venue guidelines.
* Contributing to technical problem-solving before and during productions.
* Undertaking other reasonable duties to support venue operations.

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who:

* Are keen to learn and committed to completing a Certificate III in Business OR Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.
* Have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with suitable literacy and numeracy skills.
* Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Can manage time effectively and work as part of a team
* Possess basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to complete required training modules
* Are willing to learn under guidance
* Bring a positive, can-do attitude to the workplace
* Hold a current C-Class driver licence (highly regarded)
* Live and uphold the Council's values
