**Smelter Manager** to manage operations within the smelter.
This is a highly visible role that reports directly into the Managing Director and overseas a number of key staff staff including a senior management team. This is a unique environment that offers a family feel environment and a truly collaborative and inclusive culture. A work life balance is encouraged with little overtime or extended hours expected as the 'norm'.
In this position, you will manage the efficient operations of the smelter, by establishing and ensuring the achievement of annual production efficiency and cost targets. You will ensure product quality meets customer requirements by establishing and managing the raw material inputs, process improvements strategies and systems. In addition you will establish and maintain key performance indicators for energy use and production for the smelter. You will manage work teams responsible for smelter production through the effective communication or smelter goals that are reflective of company goals.
Your ability to mentor the development and provide sound technical guidance is paramount to your success in the role.
**The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate**:
- Qualifications in Metallurgist (or equivalent)
- 15 years+ post qualification experience, preferably in sub merged arc furnaces / ferroalloys industry
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in the supervision of teams (highly desirable)
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Operational evaluation and analysis
- Financial evaluation and justification, cost and budget management
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to make timely and sound decisions and accept individual accountability.
- Adaptable and flexible - able to cope with changing circumstances.
