**The Role**
As an APS 6 Financial Analyst within the Directorate of Financial Compliance Assurance, you will be accountable for the following:
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial data to identify non-compliance with financial policy and legislation.
- Report financial non-compliance and control deficiencies to management and make recommendations to mitigate risks, strengthen controls and improve business processes.
- Provide timely sound practical advice on complex financial compliance issues and prepare evidence-based briefs, reports and visualisations to inform Defence decision making.
- Accountable for accurate and timely completion of work, sharing own expertise with others, and guiding and mentoring less experienced staff.
- Providing clear and consistent communication, managing expectations and setting clear performance and behavioural standards.
- Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders including auditors, business areas, procurement and system specialists, contractors and members of the military to deliver on the compliance assurance program.
- Perform other ad-hoc task as required.

The Directorate of Financial Compliance Assurance provides assurance of Defence's compliance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and Defence financial policies.
The team applies a risk-based approach to undertaking financial data analysis to identify non-compliance that may require further investigation.
The team also provides advice to DFG and other stakeholder on enhancing Defence's financial compliance control environment and risk management practices.
You are a skills financial data analyst professional with experience analysing large sets of data to solve complex problems to identify process weaknesses or non-compliance with policy and legislation. You have led teams of data analyst involved in conducting compliance programs, associated management reporting and remediation activities.
You have a deep and practical understanding of the financial controls and testing required to provide assurance on financial information, processes and systems.
- Proven working experience as financial data analyst.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and compile detailed reports.
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Professional scepticism and sound independent judgement.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
