**About the role**:
As part of the Mechanical Engineering Team at Ampol's Lytton Oil Refinery, the Rotating Equipment Technical Officer works closely with area engineers to provide engineering support to the mechanical coordinators, planners and work supervisors.
This includes liaising with Operations and Maintenance on priority reactive maintenance, responding to technical queries, supporting capital projects, reliability improvements as well as development of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. The role reports into the Mechanical Engineering Superintendent.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead safety by setting and monitoring standards, continuously improve the Management of Work and ensure quality systems are adhered to
- Support the execution teams by providing technical guidance on required maintenance scope, liaising with operations and inspection groups as required and involvement in management of change
- Champion Reliability improvements through troubleshooting and identification of bad actor equipment
- Undertake the required analysis to identify root causes and develop solutions to eliminate defects and improve equipment reliability
- Work to support the implementation of solutions via maintenance, capital replacement and shutdown programs
**About you**:
We are ideally looking for someone with a Mechanical Engineering tertiary qualification or a Mechanical tradesperson with approx. 10 years of rotating equipment experience.
Experience in the engineering of an Oil Refining process plant is preferred, with either Industrial Manufacturing plant or Chemical Manufacturing plant also being highly regarded.
Key skills and experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in maintenance of rotational assets (pumps, turbines, fans, compressors) of an industrial facility with demonstrated technical ability
- Proven ability to respond to technical queries, conduct machinery troubleshooting and root cause analysis using industry practices.
- Ability to coordinate and engage with the wider organisation to promote the understanding of reliability concepts and objectives within a Major Hazard Facility
- Ability to work cross functionally with a broad range of personnel to collaborate, coach and drive change and problem solve
- Ability to hold self and others accountable to deliver clear and challenging objectives
