Group Leader - Geotechnical Engineering
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Geotechnical Engineering Leader to join our team in Newcastle, Australia. This role is ideal for a proactive individual ready to advance their career by embracing leadership responsibilities.
The Group Leader will provide leadership to their teams to ensure alignment to our company vision, strategy, initiatives, and culture. They will be the advocate of the business both internally and externally to clients and professional organizations.
Reporting to the Business Leader, the successful candidate will leverage their advanced expertise in Geotechnical Engineering to lead the delivery of high-quality projects that meet client expectations and our standards for profitability, scheduling, and quality.
This is a unique opportunity to expand our existing client base, explore new prospects while strengthening relationships with existing clients and exploring new strategic project pursuits in the region.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Business Leader with monitoring and reporting on team performance.
* Work with the Business Leader in preparing annual business plans.
* Collaborate with other leaders to drive collaboration and work sharing across the organization.
* Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the correct staffing level and shape based on current and future workloads.
Business Development and Client Relationship Management
* Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
* Coordinate resource and technical development requirements with Practice Leaders and other leaders based locally and in other offices.
* Prepare and/or review proposals, variation estimates, and submission documents.
People Leadership
* Participate in projects as either Project Manager or Project Technical Leader.
* Responsible for the talent management lifecycle including recruitment suggestions, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
* Foster a success-oriented environment within the teams by displaying collaborative behaviors and exerting measured and balanced influence.
Quality and Innovation
* Work with project delivery teams and Practice Leaders to drive quality and timely delivery of project deliverables.
* Complete all work in line with our Core Values and in accordance with our Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
* Minimise and control risk by commitment to our Risk Management Policy, Quality, and Health & Safety programmes.
Requirements
* Minimum 10 years' Geotechnical Engineering experience.
* Minimum 5 years' related work, leadership, financial management and consulting experience.
* A broad range of skills covering people management, business development, project delivery and business management.
* Experience in managing teams with direct line management duties.
* Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes.
