About the Organisation
The Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA) is Australia's largest First Nations corporation, employing more than 1,400 people across 26 remote communities in the Northern Territory and Queensland. We create long‑term economic independence and meaningful opportunities for First Nations people through our Retail, Community Services, Enterprise and Corporate divisions.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Supermarket Area Manager to lead a portfolio of remote community supermarket stores across the NT. This role provides the chance to work closely with Store Managers to drive operational performance, commercial results and meaningful community outcomes.
Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, you'll partner with our Merchandise and Nutrition Teams to improve sales, product mix and nutritional impact. The role includes regular travel to remote communities often via small plane and the opportunity to support ALPA's wider initiatives such as Board meetings, grant applications and stakeholder engagement.
This is not a typical metropolitan retail role, it's a rare opportunity to lead in a unique environment with culture, purpose and challenge at its core.

* A resilient, confident communicator who builds strong relationships
* A capable people leader, coach and mentor, who develops high‑performing teams
* Commercially astute with solid financial and analytical capability
* A practical problem‑solver who enjoys working in dynamic, real‑world situations

* Competitive salary with salary packaging options
* Additional tax‑free benefits (meals, entertainment, holidays, electronics)
* Relocation assistance to Darwin
* 6 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading
* Free travel insurance
* Mobile phone allowance
* Extensive training, development and career growth
* A meaningful opportunity to contribute to positive outcomes in First Nations communities
