Primary objective
The Safety and Quality Clinical Coordinator provides coordination of policy documents for Mental Health Services, Central Australia
Region, (MHAOD CAR) complaint management for MHAOD CAR and assists in the coordination of Safety and Quality
initiatives/projects/programs, providing high level, proactive and timely advice and audit compliance with relevant NT Health and Mental
Health Services policies/protocols, and relevant legislation.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate a database of mental health relevant policy documents including implementation and review dates.
2. Educate and assist staff with policy and procedure document development, review and authoring of documents.
3. Assist in the coordination of Safety and Quality initiatives/projects/programs throughout MHAOD CAR.
1. Coordinate consumer feedback, compliments and complaints across MHAOD CAR alongside service and operational leads.
2. Support the coordination of investigation of serious adverse incidents to ensure implementation of system changes.
3. Provide advice, training and support to clinical and operational managers regarding quality and safety activities to ensure compliance
with nationally recognised standards.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant Bachelor Degree qualification in health-related field.
1. Proven capacity to be creative and innovative and think independently as well as a strong capacity to use own initiative.
2. High level written communication and report writing skills with the ability to accurately analyse and clearly communicate a range of
governance, administrative and clinical issues.
4. Sound knowledge of risk management, incident management and accreditation requirements of the Australian Commission on Safety
and Quality in Health Care, (ACSQHC).
5. Comprehensive understanding of the processes related to conducting audits and evaluation activities.
6. High level project management skills with the ability to deliver projects within defined timeframes and parameters.
7. Extensive knowledge of computer applications including Word, Excel PowerPoint and other software packages.
8. Sound understanding of the complexities of mental health care service delivery for the Aboriginal population.
Desirable
1. Experience working with the National Safety and Quality Mental Health Standards, (NSQHS) and/or project experience within a mental
health or social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) organisation.
2. Postgraduate qualification in a related field.
