Salary Range: Base Salary $87,024 - $90,825 per annum + super

We are seeking a proactive Community Liaison Officer to support the Townsville Yellow Crazy Ant Management Program. In this role, you will collaborate with the Senior Team Leader and other stakeholders to develop and implement engagement strategies that raise awareness and encourage participation in the program. You will build strong relationships with government agencies, local businesses, and residents, assist in community forums, and address concerns to ensure effective program delivery.
Key responsibilities include coordinating treatment activities with external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety and governance requirements, and sharing accurate technical information under the Biosecurity Act 2014. This position also involves contributing to discussions with state and federal agencies to identify innovative strategies and working closely with the YCA team to maintain seamless communication and program effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
* Current Unrestricted Queensland \"C\" Class Manual licence.
* Townsville City Council Authorised Person and Local Government Worker accreditation or ability to obtain.
* Substantial experience in supporting stakeholder engagement initiatives, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies and external organisations.
* Demonstrated consultation, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to influence outcomes and foster long‐term collaborative relationships.
* Demonstrated experience successfully delivering communications strategies with a focus on stakeholder relationship support and engagement.
* Ability to relay appropriate information to a variety of audiences through a range of communication tools.
Desirable
* Tertiary qualifications in communications and media, community engagement, public relations or a related field.
* Experience dealing with sensitive issues and confidential matters, including providing clear and concise information to stakeholders when responding to enquiries and complaints.
* IAP2 Certification Engagement or ability to obtain.
* Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain.
* Knowledge and experience in biosecurity strategy and plan implementation.
