We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Analyst to join our team in Newcastle, NSW.
This role offers the opportunity to work with a range of coal and minerals samples involving chemical and instrumental techniques following ISO and ASTM procedures.
As a Chemical Analyst, you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory analysis, electronic reporting of results, and troubleshooting. You will also have the opportunity to gain great industry exposure working with experienced Chemists and Managers in our laboratory.
A knowledge and interest in ICP and XRF analysis in coal and minerals will be highly desirable as it will give you a great appreciation for the application and importance of the work you undertake.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performing routine laboratory analysis and electronic reporting of results
* Troubleshooting and identifying solutions to complex analytical problems
* Working with a range of coal and minerals samples involving chemical and instrumental techniques
* Maintaining accurate records and data entry
Requirements:
* A couple of years experience working as a Chemist
* Experience working with a range of coal and minerals samples involving chemical and instrumental techniques following ISO and ASTM procedures
* Adherence to manual handling procedures
* Logistics management (equipment and samples)
* Compliance with Safety and Quality policies and programs
Desirable Skills:
* Completion of Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry
* Knowledge of Laboratory methods associated with the coal industry
* Knowledge of NATA and ISO quality systems
* Safety conscious
* Experience in a Laboratory applying chemistry and technical knowledge and use of scientific instrumentation
* Good communication skills
