About the team

The Parks and Open Spaces team is dedicated to planning vibrant, accessible, and sustainable green spaces across the city. We work collaboratively to enhance the beauty, health, and environmental value of parks, gardens, and urban landscapes, ensuring they meet the needs of the community and contribute to the city's overall well-being. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality public spaces that foster recreation, environmental outcomes, and community engagement.

About your new role

We are seeking a dynamic individual to oversee the planning, implementation, and management of urban forest programs and strategies across the City. In this role, you will coordinate efforts to protect, enhance, and sustain the health and growth of trees in urban environments, parks, and streets. You will be responsible for managing the City's tree assets and driving initiatives to promote the growth, retention, and sustainability of the Urban Forest. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the long-term environmental health and green spaces of the City.

We're looking for people who have:

* You possess a Degree or Diploma in Environmental management/Arboriculture/Urban Forestry or similar or equivalent knowledge and an Australian Drivers Licence C Class Unrestricted.
* Demonstrated experience delivering specialist arboriculture advice on urban forest assets, resulting in successful outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and overseeing best practice public tree management programs, including project and contract management.
* Proven expertise in conducting reviews of tree management policies and programs and capturing relevant data to support the development of urban forest asset management systems.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with well-developed business writing skills and demonstrated ability to compile and present complex correspondence and reports.
* Proven experience in presenting tree management issues and programs to senior management, ensuring clear and effective communication.
* Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
