Senior NetApp & CommVault Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Brisbane
Contract Duration: 12 months with 2 x 12-month extensions
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain NV1
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior NetApp & CommVault Infrastructure Engineer to join a major government agency in Brisbane.
You will play a key role in managing enterprise data storage and backup systems across both on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, M365).
Your mission: to ensure critical business data is securely stored, backed up, and recoverable supporting business continuity and protecting enterprise information assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Implement Storage Solutions: Architect and deploy enterprise-level storage and backup solutions across on-premises and cloud environments (SAN/NAS systems, AWS, Azure).
* Backup Strategy & Management: Develop and maintain backup policies, monitor daily jobs, and optimise processes for efficiency.
* Disaster Recovery: Maintain DR plans, conduct regular recovery testing, and ensure RPO/RTO targets are met.
* System Monitoring: Track health, capacity, and performance of storage and backup systems while planning for future growth.
* Troubleshooting & Support: Resolve storage and backup issues, restore services quickly, and minimise data loss or downtime.
* Data Security & Compliance: Implement encryption, access controls, and ensure alignment with ASD Essential 8 and other security standards.
* Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain clear documentation and work closely with other IT teams, sharing expertise and best practices.
Skills & Experience
* Strong hands-on experience with NetApp Storage and CommVault Backup solutions.
* Deep knowledge of on-premises storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS) and cloud storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob).
* Proven experience with enterprise backup tools (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, AWS Backup, Azure Recovery Services).
* Familiarity with PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
* Solid understanding of Windows/Linux servers, VMware/Hyper-V, and storage networking protocols (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB).
* Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
