Your role
* Work with children and youth, ages 7-11 or 12-17 years, with behavioural challenges to provide a consistent, reinforcing environment in which pro-social skills are learned and practiced.
* Work closely with a positive, solution-oriented and supportive team.
* Work with highly trained professional foster parents.
* Solve problems, using your creativity and sense of humour.
* Ensure this behavioural model is delivered with fidelity.

Skills & Experience required
* Ability to observe a child/young person's behaviour and implement a behaviour management plan knowledge and familiarity of behaviour management principles and ways of facilitating behaviour change is preferable.
* Demonstrate conceptual understanding of developmentally appropriate behaviour for children/adolescents across various settings (school, community, home).
* Ability to establish a strong relationship with a child/young person that combines warmth and humour with effective modelling and coaching of prosocial skills.
* Ability to provide skill-building training and practice using a reinforcing approach to assist a child/young person in the acquisition of new skills.
* Ability to work cooperatively with the Program Supervisor to implement weekly treatment plan, accept supervision well, be readily available for supervision, attend meetings, complete assigned paperwork.
* Knowledge and skills in ensuring the health and protection of children and young people, leadership and management experience in this context. Knowledge of the Child Protection and out-of-homecare system, standards, and practices.
* An understanding of cultural contexts and the unique needs of Aboriginal children and young people.
* Understanding of the broad range of issues impacting on the community services sector. A strong interest or experience in the mental health field is preferred.
Must be available on Wednesday mornings for the clinical team meeting, and other regular days as required.

Essential Qualification
Essential Cert IV in Youth Work or tertiary qualification in community services, psychology or social work, and/or relevant experience.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a police check and all safety screening for Queensland before commencement.
