Location: Broome on a Full-time 12 month Fixed-term Contract

About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) serves as the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS unites various Aboriginal health leaders and organisations to advocate for and improve health and well‐being among Aboriginal communities.

KAMS's vision is to empower Kimberley Aboriginal people to achieve strong health and connection through community‐controlled services. The organisation's purpose revolves around delivering holistic outcomes in partnership with Aboriginal‐led organisations, emphasising cultural knowledge and practices.

Position Overview

The Cultural Lead – Mental Health & SEWB Services is based in Broome. This full‐time, 12‐month fixed‐term contract role focuses on providing cultural leadership and strategic advice to ensure that mental health and social emotional well‐being (SEWB) services are culturally appropriate, community‐led and embed cultural security and integrity across all services.

Key responsibilities include:

* Oversee the integration of prevention, intervention and post‐vention responses, including suicide prevention initiatives.
* Promote trauma‐informed practices across both clinical and non‐clinical service delivery.
* Co‐design and implement a Cultural Security Framework with partners to ensure services reflect community voices and lived experiences.
* Deliver cultural mentorship and guidance within multidisciplinary teams.

Candidate Profile

* Aboriginality is an essential requirement in line with section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act.
* Relevant qualifications or experience in allied health, Aboriginal health work or related fields.
* Proven track record in quality improvement processes and community engagement.
* Experience providing cultural mentorship and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will work autonomously while contributing to team‐based efforts within a complex regional environment. Strong communication skills and a commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and Primary Health Care are essential.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a base salary of $118,974 per annum pro‐rata, along with various allowances:

* Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 p.a. pro‐rata
* District Allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840 (double) p.a. pro‐rata
* Electricity Allowance of $1,440 p.a. pro‐rata
* Annual Airfare of $1,285 p.a. pro‐rata (after 12 months of service)
* Option for salary sacrifice up to $30,000 p.a. pro‐rata
