About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at The Dairy Ravensbourne in Ravensbourne, Queensland. This is a casual role with the option to work up to full time, where you will assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of our busy kitchen, helping to ensure the efficient preparation and delivery of high-quality meals for our restaurant guests.
What you'll be doing
* Assisting the Head Chef in managing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, plating, and service for events
* Supervising kitchen staff and delegating tasks to ensure smooth workflow
* Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and adherence to health and safety regulations
* Participating in menu planning and development, including creating new dishes and improving existing ones
* Monitoring inventory levels and placing orders to ensure adequate supplies
* Providing training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff
What we're looking for
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a reputable restaurant or hotel kitchen
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
* Excellent culinary skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring consistent high-quality food presentation
* Thorough knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations
* Passion for creating innovative and delicious dishes using fresh, local ingredients
* Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays
